Are You an Indigo?

Jan Tober and Lee Carroll’s List (as printed in “The Indigo Children: The New Kids Have Arrived” [Hay House, Inc. USA. 1999]:

  • They come into the world with a feeling of royalty (and often act like it)
  • They have a feeling of "deserving to be here," and are surprised when others don't share that.
  • Self-worth is not a big issue. They often tell the parents "who they are."
  • They have difficulty with absolute authority (authority without explanation or choice).
  • They simply will not do certain things; for example, waiting in line is difficult for them.
  • They get frustrated with systems that are ritually oriented and don't require creative thought.
  • They often see better ways of doing things, both at home and in school, which makes them seem like "system busters" (nonconforming to any system).
  • They seem antisocial unless they are with their own kind. If there are no others of like consciousness around them, they often turn inward, feeling like no other human understands them. School is often extremely difficult for them socially.
  • They will not respond to "guilt" discipline ("Wait till your father gets home and finds out what you did").
  • They are not shy in letting you know what they need.

Bernadette Brighton

Bernadette Brighton was born and raised in New Britain, Connecticut.  An Indigo from day 1, she was curious, bright, inquisitive, intuitive, and outspoken.  In order to curb her rambunctious energy, she began studying martial arts at age 8. At 15, she received a First Degree Black Belt in Tang Soo Do, a Korean form of martial arts comparable to Tae Kwan Do with such noted practitioners as Chuck Norris and Grand Master Robert Cheezic.

At 12, she became involved with Civil Air Patrol, Auxiliary of the United States Air Force.  There, she attended National Ground Search and Rescue School, Survival Training at Westover AF Base, and served on staff at several CT Wing encampments, including the position of Cadet Commander, the highest in the Chain of Command for cadets.  While in CAP, Bernadette was part of countless community service projects, including joining her squadron in assisting the Red Cross during the devastating ice storms in Plattsburgh, NY in January of 1998.  During her eight years of service in CAP, she accrued countless hours leading, teaching, guiding, organizing, and counseling cadets ranging in ages from 11 to 21.

In high school, she studied comedy, drama, and stage crew.  Her wit and sarcastic sense of humor landed Bernadette the Class Clown superlative out of hundreds of students (it also landed her in trouble every now and then).  She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Central Connecticut State University.  After college, Bernadette pursued other interests, including improv and sketch writing in New York City’s Upright Citizens Brigade Training Center.

After years of self-study in to all things metaphysical, Bernadette began attending workshops with noted authors and practitioners such as Doreen Virtue, PhD and Dr. Steven Farmer.  In March 2008, she attended the Angel Certification Program under Charles Virtue.  In addition to being naturally clairaudient and clairvoyant, Bernadette is an accomplished reader, journeyer, and energy/body scanner.

Currently, she is working with Indigos and the New Children (Crystals, Rainbows, and Star Kids) and volunteering/teaching at the Inspirational Learning Academy.  Her main focus is providing workshops encouraging other Indigos to reach their highest potential and reclaim their life’s purpose.  Additionally, she provides parents with information and support in raising their Indigos.  Bernadette Brighton is also forming a Meta-minded Youth Group in Sedona, AZ, where she currently makes her happy home.
