What is so encouraging is that almost anyone, regardless of prior experience, can learn to play in a short time. Reading traditional music is not needed as the Native American Flute has its own language using finger charts and symbols. Unlike piano and guitar that demand years of study to sound good, this somewhat magical stick asks only that the player breathe into it and cover the holes correctly. With just a little practice, beautiful sounds emerge and we are the creators. Add a little feeling and out comes a song from the heart. This is the most fulfilling part. Learning the basics is important though, but if one is willing to commit a little time each day, the effort is well worth the reward.
