Recording artists Rick Cyge and Lynn Trombetta who perform as Meadowlark will be in concert at Sedona Creative Life Center. Visit www.MeadowlarkMusic.com for more information and a preview of the music which features Trombetta on flute and pennywhistles and Cyge on acoustic guitar and piano. Meadowlark's New World Music fuses influences as diverse as Celtic, African, and Mediterranean into an eclectic mix of original compositions inspired by nature. Cyge's use of open tunings and harp-like fingerstyle guitar techniques in tandem with Trombetta's rich and soulful flute and pennywhistle performance creates an underpinning of Celtic style in the Meadowlark sound. Saturday November 16, 2002, 7:30pm. Tickets: $12 in advance or $14 at the door, available at The Worm (928) 282-3471, The Golden Word (928) 282-2688, Crystal Magic (928) 282-1622. For more information call (480) 481-9647.
The music of Meadowlark has been described by reviewers as "Joyful Celebratory Music". Original compositions inspired by nature transport the listener from sandy beaches to the drama of the desert, to the skies over the African plains and far beyond. In concert, Cyge and Trombetta offer delightful creative insight into the stories behind each of their compositions. The international folk and world music magazine, Dirty Linen, says, “Meadowlark’s spirit is restless and pure ...evocative of Nightnoise and Montreux on a brilliant night!”
In a few short years, Meadowlark has released four recordings, written over 40 instrumental compositions, shared public performances with some of the most notable contemporary musicians, and created their own record label and web site. Meadowlark has garnered reviews in international magazines, received international air play, sold thousands of recordings without the benefit of traditional distribution, and has performed in music festivals from Tucson to Seattle and in concerts on both coasts. Meadowlark's current release, "FreeFall" and previous release, "Legend of the Land" have both charted in the Top 100 Radio Play List by New Age Voice, a publication that compiles play lists from non-commercial radio stations reporting from around the world. This concert is sponsored in part by The Briar Patch Inn in Sedona.
